FRANCE --August 2010

I returned to France in early August in time for fish and chips at Le Local, and the Thursday Reggae concert in Mayenne. ( Videoclip on patrickclips ).

The first week was hot and the peaches, all 27 of them, were just ripening ... as were the pears. Despite the lack of rainfall the fruit was very sweet. The grapes are still doing well and should be ripe for my return in September / October.

The first week was spent bed making, literally, from the timber bought last trip, in the style of the first bed. Later the frame was assembled, and the mattress transferred.

One evening I went to the Parc des Loisirs at Vaux, to listen to the campsite entertainment. A videoclip of the music group is also on the patrickclips channel ( link on main index page )

Carol, Keith and Richard then came for a long weekend. The weather, however, though warm was not at its best, nevertheless trips were made to Mayenne, Domfront and to Sara and Tony, as well as wandering around locally by the river, and in the open orchard, to pick up apple windfalls for the pigs .

After their visit I repaired a light fitting, put the finishing touches to the new bed frame and sorted out the slow filling downstairs loo ( an almost seven year old problem ! ).

Some time was spent in the garden - although it had been too dry to do much. One afternoon, after pizzas, Sara and I went to a local boot sale.

A highlight of the visit was a visit to an outside concert at the Chateau, at Bagnoles de l'Orne. The group, Inspecteur Gadjo, was very good.

The last event was a visit to The Red Lion, at Desertines, for a folk evening - with pie and chips.
