FRANCE ..... June 2013
I went back to France on Sunday 16th June, Sue and Pete were arriving on the Thursday for a short weekend visit. The grapes, pears and peaches were still doing well, and butterflies and more were well in evidence.

I managed to get both the upper and lower grass cut, some tiling in the downstairs loo as well as stripping the back door and re varnishing the small shutters before they came... and put in new glass to one small window. Just as well, because the few days they were here were not all that pleasant ! I also managed to get stung while cutting the grass and suffered with a swollen paw for a couple of days.
A blackbird sitting singing on the chimney sounded as though it was in the room - the chimney acting as a speaking tube.
Needless to say it became fine on the Sunday afternoon when Sue and Pete left and there were three lovely, sunny and warm days. I managed to strip the small window and undercoat it and the back door, and varnish the main shutters, whilst watching tennis on TV !
The Moulin de Beslay at Cigné is now open under new management. It was used three times over the ten days - with Sara and Tone, Sue and Pete and with Julie and Chris, which indicates how acceptable it was !
The main attraction with Sue and Pete on the Saturday was the Gorron Fete de la Musique, after a lunch at La Petite Reigniere. Fortunately the weather stayed dry most of the time - just a very light shower - although the temperature was low. Carys and Tone were performing there, as well as Carys playing with the Classe Orchestre and Lyre Gorronaise.

There were many other groups playing during the evening

There was also dancing to some groups - watched by many ! |

Most of the pictures taken at the Fete de la Musique are on YouTube as a slideshow, on the patrickclips channel.
It was also fine on the Thursday 27th when I left, calling in to see Chris who was working on the house in Domfront .... it started to rain when waiting for the ferry in Cherbourg !

The house is well situated within a short walk to the town centre - and a recently opened pub just over the road !

Wimbledon started on the last Monday, so I managed to see most of the leading lights of the tournament. I shall watch the final stages at home.
| Last month saw the
arrival of the bees at La Petite Reigniere. The beekeeping activity is now starting to yield some honey. The first batch was processed just before I left. It tasted good ... I understand what the bees feed on determines how it tastes. |
