FRANCE - June 2007
Most of June was spent in France .....

The main work this visit was to finish the stairs and create more kitchen space. A large tiled area and deep shelf under the new stairs has provided considerably more storage. The wall has been part tiled, to give a clean surface, but an area of the main stone wall was revealed and will be left to eventually provide a feature. The next job will be to install an extractor fan, which will also ventilate the shower room. |

There were quite a few concerts and recitals, some associated with end of school term, others in conjunction with local village fetes. Great use is made of the local village churches and halls, and the shows are always very well attended by the local community.
Carys ( in red top, centre of left hand picture ) sang in various choirs, whilst Bethany and Megan played instruments at other events.

The mallow in the garden, which started as 12 inch cuttings a couple of years ago, was doing well. Even the heavy prunings from last year, some of which had rooted, are now well established in the lower garden area and will form a good hedge next year. Other more recent plants were also thriving.

Even the small lavenders, put in at the last visit, were in flower. |
| At La Petite
Reigniere the swimming pool was now enclosed. It looked
well established with deck furniture, and with the plants
and shrubs planted around. More gravel had been laid to
improve the approaches. Further additions were being made to the outdoor facilities - a start having been made on a pizza oven. The kittens were growing rapidly. |

Sara played bassoon with Lyre Gorronaise at the Gorron Saltimbanque Music Festival. Again, use was made of the Gorron Church. The orchestra numbered about 30 people - there was also a choir of about the same number.

Back at my place, after finishing the floor and carpet tiling in the first house upstairs bedroom, a start was made on making windows to replace the existing ones. Fixing the units will be a job for later in the year. |
| The steps between the lower and upper houses were tiled. This small job certainly improved the overall look of things. The same tiling will also be used when the outside entrance porch is refurbished. | ![]() |
