FRANCE - June /July 2012
A couple of days were spent tidying the garden before Sue and Pete arrived for a few days over the weekend.
| Despite a promising show
of blossom, both the peaches and strawberries have not
produced a wealth of fruit ... nor are there any cherries
( a common problem in the area ), but the grapes and
pears still look promising. However, one rock plant had done exceedingly well - with many flower spikes. |

After a Big Breakfast with Sue and Pete at Le Chat Noir, and an afternoon of gardening, Saturday saw a reasonable evening for the Gorron Fete de la Musique, where Carys was also playing.

On Sunday, after a visit to the Vide Grenier at La Haie Traversaine, we visited Sara and Tony for a meal. Two of their local neighbours were also there.
.....
On the Monday Sue and Pete visited a friend, then met up with me in Domfront to visit Julie and Chris to see their flat and the shop development.
When Sue and Pete went home I settled back to the usual routine, Fish and Chips night at Le Chat Noir, some more tiling, more grass cutting and pruning in the garden, before going to Domfront to see Chris playing in the local Fete de la Musique as part of the Bullfrog group.

Having seen the end of the tennis at the Roland Garros tournament, and the grass tournament at Queens, Wimbledon started - with initial British success - and later the dramatic exit of Nadal. ( I shall see the conclusion when back in England - and the British Grand Prix )
On Sunday 1 July, after a visit to the local Vide Grenier in Ambrieres, I went to Domfront for the pre-opening of the shop on La Grande Rue, ( La Cave d'Aladdin ) before a pleasant, outside meal at one of Chris's friends nearby.

......
My own neighbours, two doors away, turned up for a short visit on the 2nd July, so there was an hour or so of catching up, over a glass or two.
Unfortunately the last few days of the trip were spoilt by a summer cold... a rare thing for me.

Just one fox cub awaited
my return - it had been sleeping beside a plant pot
holder. I thought it was dead at first, but it got up,
yawned, and went off when I knocked on the window. I have since seen White Tip and two others, walking along the top of a six foot fence. When I cut the grass they were more reluctant to come out - realising that the house was once again occupied. A reminder - videoclips of the fox cubs are on the patrickclips channel - link on the Main Index page. |
Videos will be uploaded to patrickclips as soon as possible ... at present there is a HDD failure of the editing computer. What is more important is that I can not locate the editing suite disc ( to load onto another computer ) - no doubt put so safe I can not find it !! However, I have managed to produce some stills for this webpage.
