FRANCE - JUNE 2005
Work on this trip was less, due to the onset of a cold / hayfever / mild flu which lasted about a week. Sue and Pete were also visiting in the area, so a degree of socialising took place ! But, thanks to their efforts, on a hot sunny day, the top garden has now been redefined, to give more grass and less border. They stayed in a mobile home on short let, at the Le Parc des Loisirs de Vaux, a local leisure area beside the river. The site offers camping, boating, tennis, archery, as well as a heated swimming pool.

I have now almost completed the floor replacement in the second bedroom, at the same time sorting the wiring for the downstairs lights. A tidy up in the downstairs room has improved things on entry through the front door, but much will need to be cleared before tiling the floor can start.

The beam in the bedroom has been exposed and treated; the ceiling boards refixed and realigned. The joints are being taped, and given a first coat of crepi.

June is the time for the Gorron Saltimbanque. A place for meeting friends and sharing secrets.

Music from various groups carried on into the night.

I made a brief visit to see developments at an old derelict mill aquired by friends ( ex bridge group ) who now live in France, and are enjoying the quality of life available. The refurbishment work was impressive, although more remains to be done. They have their own " island " formed by the river and mill stream, and are encouraging the local trout to stay close by !
