Visit August / September 2002 ...
I went over on the Pride of Hampshire ( as in previous pictures ) which is about to be retired ... I saw the new boat, the Pride of Cherbourg coming in as we left Portsmouth...
Tony was finishing off the back roof with felt and tile battens ... so a start was made on a " hole in the wall" to create a walk way the length of the property... so that there was no need to go outside to get to the kitchen / bedroom end of the buildings. The stone wall was originally an outside wall, up to 2 feet thick.
but gradually a passage way was 
made and stone steps added ... The new bedroom steps will go up to the right of these steps, and will be faced in stone to match.
With cooler nights there were often heavy dews ... which created pictures in the hedgerows.
One door was blocked up, to create a new window to the centre section .... Tony buried another water pipe from the well outside, which was later taken through the walls for some new plumbing ....water heater, sink and shower ( fixed on a temporary basis )
The water supply is powered by a pump capable of lifting the well water 45 feet or more. The main electric cabling was drawn through conduit ( nearly 30 metres ) to locate the electric distribution at a more central point, ready for wiring up a consumer box, switches and power points etc.
The weather was very kind, except for two days, when it put the felted roof to the test. A small leak was traced to a window opening not yet dealt with. With luck it should be possible to complete the roof before the winter. .

The journey back on Thursday12th was aborted ...after having travelled 130 miles to Cherbourg to find an angry mob of disappointed travellers ... the FAST FERRY was not operational. So I returned to Sara and Tony for a couple more nights and came back on the Saturday. The view from the top deck of the Pride of Bilbao afforded some good pictures, passing the usual landmarks at Portsmouth.
