FRANCE - Late April 2011

A five day visit over Easter.

The weather was sunny and warm, and the new terminal building at Portsmouth was in operation.

The new terminal building had much improved facilities, with dining upstairs and an outside viewing terrace.

It was not completely finished, but it was much lighter and brighter, and looks good for the future.

Arrived in Ambrières just as it was getting dark since the visit was made using the afternoon ferry. The major roadworks at Ambrières on the main road opposite were still ongoing. These will last until the first week in July, but Easter weekend meant no work on the Saturday, Sunday or on Easter Monday, so peace reigned !

On Friday morning off to Gorron for weekend shopping, calling in on Sara and Tone. In the late afternoon, catching up with English neighbours who had also just arrived.

On Saturday morning more shopping, and lunch, in Mayenne. The market was just finishing.

..

View over the River Mayenne, and the bar tucked in behind the Church, where Tone and the Tonettes have played.

Just made it back to the car when there was a thunderstorm which lasted into the early evening. It cleared the air, but the temperature still remained high.

On Sunday went to Sara and Tone for lunch, then cut the grass in the evening.

On the Monday went over to St Denis de Villenette to check out a property, then on to a large car boot sale and fair at nearby Champsecret.

Since it was also near, returned to Ambrières via Domfront, to look at the medieval town, church, castle and grounds.

The weather was still fine and sunny.

Later in the evening a stroll by the river at the Parque de Vaux.

.

On Tuesday, the day of departure, a stop at Lonlay l'Abbaye enabled pictures to be taken of the Abbaye, and the Pressoir which has been refurbished.
