After tidying up in the main house a start was made on the upstairs room of the other building.
............................

The fire place was removed back to what turned out to be a second fireplace: I decided not to strip back to the first. The fire place will eventually house a cupboard or wardrobe. All the exterior walls have been lined with insulating fibreglass before fitting metal studding to carry a plasterboard covering.

The floor had to be raised 2 to 3 inches to give some degree of level. In fact I decided to renew the floor completely. This also gave an opportunity to sort out the electrics for this room and the room below.

The main beam was uncovered and a start made on cleaning it. It became clear that the ceiling boards also had to be brought down by about 2 or 3 inches in one corner. In this room all the walls taper, or have at least two angles, which made things more interesting !
The locals make full use of the nearby walks and facilities at the weekend. The following pictures are of the River Mayenne near the confluence with the River Varenne.
