FRANCE - November 2009

After a very busy October I popped over to France for about ten days, to tidy up the garden and do some minor jobs inside. Since the fastcraft service to Cherbourg ended at the end of October I had to go on the overnight boat to Caen, coming back on the evening ferry to Poole.

I arrived in Ambriéres early morning ( the boat having arrived in Caen about 0700 hrs ) and did the necessary shopping in Gorron, calling in at La Petite Reigniere on the way.

The weather remained very mild, and a useful day was spent pruning the trees and shrubs, and having a general tidy up outside.

................

The mild weather was evidenced by roses, geraniums, campanula, begonias and other plants still blooming .... along with the many weeds growing!

The doors were hung on the cupboard in the bedroom of house one, and a curtain made for the main window. This room is now more or less finished.

...........

Time permitted the start of another cupboard in the main room, all that now remains is final adjustment of the cupboard door, and the plasterwork and painting to the two side panels.

...........

This additional storage will permit further tidying up to get things out of sight, as well as providing storage for heater fuel and charcoal blocks for the fire and other items.

The return trip saw lower temperatures and driving rain, from Poole to Basingstoke .... then roadworks and a diversion ! I arrived home in the wee small hours of Saturday morning.
