AT HOME .......... October - November 2011
Most of the time after returning from France was spent catching up with various matters. From gardening and dealing with the hedges, to dentist and doctor etc. appointments, bill paying, getting the central heating fired up for when it is colder and a hundred and one other jobs, all of which seemed to take more time than usual !
Apart from replacing a defective phone ( found failed after my August trip ), the security light outside had to be replaced, along with various light bulbs.
Then the tabletop grill oven failed ( one element burnt out ). The grill oven had given good service for about 38 years !!! I replaced it with a combi grill/oven/microwave ( in anticipation of my microwave also failing - after some 40 years ! ), and a deep fat fryer. Many other annoying and time consuming things happened ... but I won't bore you with the details.
However, the weather remained remarkably dry and mild..... and a visit was made to Wisley Gardens.

Later, in November, Virgin Media were very slow in installing broadband... although they were very prompt in billing me for a service I had not yet got ! I was disappointed that I was not told of the date of their second visit ( the first visit installation failed ). After several days I had to phone them to check when they were coming back. For an afternoon visit it was late before they arrived, and they had to work outside in the dark !!
The following day I found they had left their rubbish behind. Even worse the cable in the pavement outside the property had been left sticking up about 6 inches......the cover to the hole was about 2 feet away. I had to clean and replace the cover. Fortunately all this was out of the direct line for pedestrians...but it was a wonder that the local lads had not sabotaged the cable or kicked the cover away further!!!!
Enough ......
Best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas . . .
