Many words are used to describe the mathematical functions. For example:

PLUS : ........... plus, add, and

MINUS :.......... minus, subtract, take away, less

MULTIPLY :..... multiplied by, times

DIVIDE :......... divided by, shared by

EQUALS : ....... equals, totals, makes, comes to, are

Sometimes Equals may not be used at all, if it is clear what is meant e.g. six plus six ? ... the question mark shows what is wanted )
