FRANCE
( Sept - Oct 2011)
I returned to France, for perhaps the last time this year, just in time to catch the mini heatwave. The Hindhead tunnel made a difference, taking about 10 to 15 minutes off the journey. It is now about an hour to the Portsmouth ferry port.
In France the temperature was around 25 degrees, eventually reaching the low to mid 30s outside. Inside, only on the last night did the temperature dip just below 20 degrees. The last week also saw some light drizzle in the early morning, and cloudier days.
Although I had planned to do some painting it was too hot, so I worked outside adding more stonework to finish the patio area ...

Gardening, pruning and building up the level of the corner of the bottom garden, to blend with the landscaping work being carried out by the local authority, also helped fill the rest of the day. |
| A timer switch and neon indicator for the water heater was installed to make life easier, and avoid leaving the water heater on ! | ![]() |
I also replaced a ridge strut on the upstairs landing and finished both the ceiling, and panel covering the hot tank.
..

Various visits were made to Sara and Tone. The 8 new piglets were now quite large, there were some new ducks and hens ... and also another 5 or 6 more kittens !! ( not yet on view )
..... and to the Gorron boot sale, where Carys had a pitch .....

... and to Chris and Julie ( recently arrived in France ), and for another look around Domfront.
| Le Chat
Noir provided a Sunday lunch venue. I also dropped in on the first birthday party of Le Chat Noir before I left. There was an excellent buffet, and it was a well attended event. |
