France - September 2014 .....
With the exceptional weather most of the time was spent in the garden, cutting grass and pruning and topping trees etc., apart from the usual shopping trips. There were many lizards in the sun on the rocks. The vine was also cut right back and removed entirely from the higher pathway. The mallow down below was cut back later. |

Jan and Bram came down for a meal on Thursday 11th. We were all going to Le Barius but Bram had an accident with a power saw, so it was decided to scrub the Domfront visit, especially since Chris was also away in Brittany on holiday.
The first weekend was the Ambrieres Fete and fireworks, which I visited.

The second Thursday I went up to Domfront, Le Barius, to eat and to see Chris who was now back from Brittany. In the end I had fish and chips at Mollys - many customers were from Le Chat Noir in Couemes.
| There was a brilliant
display on the way back in the form of an electrical
storm. The lightning effects were superb although there was no sound, or rain on my journey from Domfront to Ambrieres ! ( Pic by Sara - taken at Brecé ) |

On the Friday I went for a meal to Chantrigné - to meet up with Heather and Kris who were just over ... and staying for a week or ten days. They called by Saturday morning on their way to Brecé - and I had a surprise, but welcome, invite to eat with them at Sara's in the evening. Chris also called in for a few hours.
Home on the Sunday via Poole - since services to Portsmouth from Cherbourg had stopped for the year. I had forgotten it was Sunday and I had not filled up with petrol - I just made it to Cherbourg where I used a ticket machine in France for the first time ! Without petrol I would not have been able to make it home, since it was a long drive from Poole.
Any further trips ( possibly October ) will have to be via Caen, I fear, with the associated longer journey overall.
