France - September / October 2007
The main purpose of this visit was to replace the second ( main ) window in the bedroom currently being refurbished, using the made to measure double glazing units built during my last stay in England.

Bearing in mind the remote casement contruction and the many wall angles to be dealt with, all went well, the only real problem being a large wallstone which had forced the outside oak out of vertical. But by various means the problem was more or less disguised.

Only the window fasteners remain to be fitted, and an insert shelving unit made for the fireplace - then the room is finished ready for curtains and pictures. |
The garden was tidied and the grass cut for the last time this year - later the fruit trees, vine and shrubs were pruned and some dead lilac removed. The geraniums ( ex Carol ) were still doing very well and the holly tree looked as though it was forecasting a cold winter.

Most of the other jobs were of a tidying up / finishing off nature, using up cement, tradifarge and plaster where possible, fixing a shaver socket, staining wood for future use as skirting or door trim, and fixing the last bit of plasterboard in the upstairs bathroom ready for taping the joints and plastering.

Use was made of the MPV to buy more plaster board for use on the main room ceiling at some future date, and two large posts for the eventual front porch reconstruction.

Apart from socialising with my English neighbours, who all appeared at some time during my stay, time was also spent with Sara and Tony. The new pizza oven was put to good use - for general cooking as well as pizzas. |

A visit was also made to the Autumn Gourmand 'fest' at Bagnoles de l'Orne.
A break for lunch by the lake at St Jean de Daye on the way back .... then a return to deal with the heap of accumulated post and other mail which arrives through the letterbox when I am away !
