Some of the pictures of my recent visit to Thailand .

October - November 2001

The first few days were spent at the peaceful "Lanna Resort", just outside Chiang Mai. Then South to Lamphun, Lampang, Tak , and Sukhothai. The return was by way of Phrae and Nan, to Lampang again and then to Chiang Mai, for the Loy Krathong Festival.

This is the Mae Rim area, to the Northwest of Chiang Mai

Further South, on the way to Sukhothai , and leaving out the many Temples ( Wats ) visited .

both were quite strong ..... my visit was just after the rainy season. The walk to the Jae Sorn Falls was through a pleasant, shady forest.

The Bhumipol Dam and Reservoir ....

just off the main road South to Tak.

It is possible to get a "floating hotel"

boat all the way back up the River Ping

to Lamphun and beyond. There are also

other short boat excursions to an island

in the river.
